walk to remember
This picture almost
completely describes a quiet winter evening in Toronto. This is that time of
the year in Toronto when every street is decorated with little lights to
celebrate the joy of Christmas and New Year. While wandering on streets with my
camera, all I had in my mind was to capture cheerfully illuminated streets and
festive side of Toronto. I was on to that specific subject and I even got some
nice clicks.
Now, what I’m about to share
here, I want you to feel it as you read and live that moment again with me. As
I was on my way back, I entered this street and saw this very loving couple
with their baby. While waiting for crossing the street, I looked at the baby
boy. He was having wide chubby cheeky smile. He waved at me and said hi in most
adorable voice possible. We all laughed at the way he said hi. I had a little
chat with the couple and found out they were out for evening walk. They said
they love to take a little stroll but the kid is the one who is always most
excited about walk. This walk has such great impact on their life that it’s
their ritual now.
This had me thinking just 15
minutes walk in neighbor hood can have such a positive influence on someone’s
life. The couple may cherish every talk they have along the walk, but imagine
about the boy. He is creating this beautiful memory to cherish forever. After a
certain age, you just remember very limited events which might have made you
very happy or sad. But those little things, things like this walk by the
street, looking at the twinkling lights, and happy faces of mom dad; what
effect you think will it have on the baby. Take few seconds and think how many
of such happy rituals do you remember from your childhood.
This photograph is nothing but a message that
this new year let’s give attention to the little things in life. Be it family,
a very special friend or life partner, everyone needs just a little more of
your actions to communicate your feelings, to create such beautiful memories. A
10-15 minutes’ walk, a random call, a surprise meet, a cup of coffee every
other day, once a week or even month will do. Let the people in your life feel
that warmth in your relation by building one small healthy ritual this year and
see how wonderfully it fills up positivity and happiness in lives. It not
necessarily have to be New Year gift as you see the day has already passed but
gifts are always loved so don’t wait for the occasion. And hey, I just gave you
one of the best ideas for gift: A Walk
to remember.
